ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the feasibility of tracking migration and distribution of SD-rat adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) labeled with Polyethylene Glycol/Polyehthyleneimine modified superparamagnetic iron oxide (PEG/PEI-SPIO) in rats with chronic cerebral ischemia using MRI.Methods Thirty female SD rats underwent permanent occlusion of bilateral common carotid arteries 6 months were divided into PEG/PEI-SPIO labeled group and unlabeled group (each n =15).Labeled or unlabeled ADSCs suspension was injected into the right ventricle of rats in two groups, respectively.MR scans were performed at the 7th,14th and 21st day after transplantation for each 5 rats.T2 value of T2mapping sequence in hippocampus, cortex and cerebellum were measured. Then the rats were scarified, and the brains were obtained, and Prussia dyeing was performed.Under high magnification, blue dye cells at each time points and brain area were counted.T2 values and blue dye cells were statistically analyzed. Results Class round hypointensity areas were detected in temporol-parietal cortex and hippocampus in both groups on T2WI,T2* WI and SWI.T2 value of the right temporolparietal cortex and hippocampus in the labeled group was shorter than those of the unlabeled group on the 14th day after transplantation (P=0.013,0.045).T2 value of the right temporol-parietal cortex in the labeled group was shorter than that of the unlabeled group on the 21st day after transplantation (P=0.007).The number of blue dye cell of the right temporol-parietal cortex on the 14th and 21th day, hippocampus on the 14th day in the labeled group were more than those of the unlabeled group after transplantation (P=0.029,0.032,0.043).Conclusion ADSCs labeled with PEG/PEI-SPIO transplanted into lateral ventricle of SD rat could migrate to the damaged areas caused by chronic cerebral ischemia. It is possible to use quantitative MRI to track migration and distribution of ADSCs labeled with PEG/PEI-SPIO in rat brain.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish the reference values and evaluate influence factors of turns-amplitude clouds for healthy Chinese. Methods We recruited 59 healthy subjects From July 2017 to December 2017 in Nanfang Hospital,Southern Medical University, including 34 males and 25 females, who were divided into young group (15-39 years old),middle-aged group (40-64 years old) and the elderly group (over 65 years),respectively. The number of turns (NT) and mean amplitude (MA) normative data of sternocleidomastoid muscle, deltoid muscle, biceps brachii muscle, extensor digitorum muscle, abductor digiti minimi muscle, quadriceps femoris muscle, tibialis anterior muscle, and gastrocnemius muscle were obtained by using concentric needle electrodes.A total of 20-30 records were collected from each muscle in different degree of contraction.A linear regression of lg(MA-100) versus lgNT was made and the slope, intercept, the 95% confidence interval of intercept, the largest MA and largest NT were calculated for each muscle. The influence factors, such as gender, age, muscles, and dominant limbs on the shape of cloud were evaluated by using the Chow breakpoint test. Results Normal turns-amplitude clouds were obtained and presented in this article.Muscle and age were found to be the main influence factors affecting the shape of cloud, and gender may affect some clouds, while the dominant limbs had little influence on the shape of the cloud. Conclusion The reference values of turns-amplitude cloud based on muscle, gender and age are of practical significance in clinic.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the current situation of iodine deficiency disorders and the effect of control measures in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and to provide a basis for making up targeted control measures for iodine deficiency disorders. Methods In 2012, proportional probability sampling method(PPS) was used to select 30 primary schools in seven counties of Changzhou City;50 students aged 8-10 in each school were randomly selected to examine thyroid, and their urine and household salt samples were collected to detect iodine. Thirty pregnant and 15 lactation women were selected to detect their urine iodine in the town where the school was located in. Two drinking water samples were collected to detect iodine in the village where the school was located in. The questionnaire survey of health education was carried out among the children and the housewives. Results A total of 1 500 children were surveyed, and the rate of goiter was 0.07%(1/1 500); the median of urinary iodine was 224.81 μg/L. Five hundred and seventy-two pregnant women and 328 lactation women were surveyed, and the median of urinary iodine was 148.93 μg/L and 147.48 μg/L, respectively. Fifteen hundred salt samples were detected, and the coverage rate of iodized salt was 99.47%(1 492/1 500); the edible rate of qualified iodized salt was 97.67%(1 465/1 500); and the median of salt iodine was 25.46 mg/kg. Sixty water samples were collected, and the median of water iodine was 3.63 μg/L. The health education awareness rates were 77.8%(2 100/2 700) and 88.0%(396/450) of students and housewives, respectively. Conclusion The control effect of iodine deficiency disorders is significant in Changzhou City, and monitoring of iodine nutrition level of special populations should be strengthened.

ABSTRACT

Seven cases of cystic eckinococcosis( CE) were surveyed retrospectively in 2008. The results showed that 6 of thosepatients were locally infected. It is important to investigate the course and characteristics of CE transmission in non-endemic areas.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of universal salt iodization (USI) on the profile of in-patient thyroid diseases. Methods Informations on thyroid diseases were collected by retrospective approach in hospitalized patients. Results With USI for 1-4 years, the incidence of thyroid diseases in the total in-patient cases increased from 7.6‰ to 11.0‰, the female/male ratio increased from 3.6 to 4.1, patients aged
